New York: Doubleday Doran & Company Inc, 1936. Inscribed by author to Publisher Nelson Doubleday. First American Issue by Doubleday, Doran September 25 1936 rarely seen.
What makes this copy so unique it that is was inscribed to Nelson Doubleday, the publisher and president of Doubleday Company from 1922-1946 from Vita Sackville-West.
"...Nelson Doubleday in his letter to Vita May 21, 1936 describes receiving the setting copy that day from England and putting it on the sewing machine". Cross & Ravenscroft-Hulme A.31(c).

Bound in red cloth covered boards with gold stamping on a black emblem down the spine. - 8vo 395 pp. Size: 6 1/4" x 9 1/4" The boards have some staining as per the photos and there is no dustjacket.

An important collector copy of one of Vita Sackville-West's most rare and out of print books.
