Cloth, xii, 417 pp., preface, illustrated, map, footnotes, acknowledgments, index. folding map affixed to the front pastedown sheet details the road system in existence in 1882, to the gold fields. An interesting saga with abundant historical facts about the California Gold Rush Days. The activities of Lotta Crabtree, Bret Harte, Joaquim Miller and countless others who played roles in the turbulent advance of Siskiyou County, California. Included are biographies of doctors who served the remote areas to administer to epidemic sticken families, pioneering settlers, and miners who obtained wealth or sadly toiled hard to find nothing. Also information on Captain Jack, the Modocs, and a general history of the Mt. Shasta area. Near fine in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends.
