[8], 4-421, [5] pp. Beige cloth with a blue design on the front board, blue lettering on the spine; blue topstain. Price of $7.95 on the front flap of the dust jacket. First printing of the first American edition. Translated from the Japanese by Michael Gallagher. The second installment in Mishima's The Sea of Fertility, described as a cycle of four novels, a series that paints a literary picture of Japan in the twentieth century. A nice copy of the second novel in Mishima's final literary work, completed shortly before he committed suicide. A name and a small corner crease on the free front endpaper.

Synopsis

Runaway Horses is a 1969 novel by Yukio Mishima, the second in his Sea of Fertility tetralogy. Mishima did much research to prepare for this novel, including visiting locations recorded in the book and searching for information on the Shimpūren Rebellion (神風連の乱 Shinpūren no Ran).
