Kerala, India: Original Manuscript Circa 18th - 19th Century. From the Collection of Jacques Marchais [1887-1948] who in 1938 opened an Indian and Tibetan Art Gallery in Manhatten, to fund her desire to build a center of Tibetan Art on her property in Staten Island, showing her label on the wooden cover. The polished, bevelled wooden boards measure 9-1/2" long by 1-1/4" top to bottom. The stack measures 2-1/4" thick with the wooden covers, and 1-3/4" thick without the wooden covers, with a jute cord running through two holes in the book. With 82 leaves total, which were inscribed with a sharp stylus, then covered in ink made from oil and lampblack, wiping off the excess to reveal the Malayalam script. Irving Fisher was an American economist and Progressive social campaigner who made important contributions to utility theory, general equilibrium, markets capital and interest rates. He was equally an advocate of vegetarianism, prohibition, and eugenics. Original 6-page typescript (carbon copy) manuscript of Johns' 'Heroes of Africa' (a draft of the Chapter 'The Scot Who Walked Alone' - Chapter 4 of 'Biggles Book of Heroes' with significant similarities, but also a large number of textual / content differences). With a couple of pen corrections which may or may not be authorial. Undated, but c1959.

London: Roger Fenton, 1860. Original albumen print stereoview by famed Crimean War photographer Roger Fenton (London, 1819-1869). On the verso of the stereoview card Fenton has SIGNED his name and written the following inscription: "The Cherwell from under Magdalen bridge, part of Magdalen college to the left, the water walk to the right." The autograph and inscription are guaranteed to be original and authentic. Fenton's name is also blindstamped on the front left margin of the mount. From the collection of Robert N.
