London: Roger Fenton, 1860. Original albumen print stereoview by famed Crimean War photographer Roger Fenton (London, 1819-1869). On the verso of the stereoview card Fenton has SIGNED his name and written the following inscription: "The Cherwell from under Magdalen bridge, part of Magdalen college to the left, the water walk to the right." The autograph and inscription are guaranteed to be original and authentic. Fenton's name is also blindstamped on the front left margin of the mount. From the collection of Robert N. Dennis, who was one of the most important stereoview collectors in the U. S. The New York Public Library's "Robert N. Dennis Collection" includes more than 70,000 stereoviews from his collection, many of which can be viewed on the library's website.
