Minimal shelfwear at cloth spine ends and corners, light offsetting to pastedowns and rear free endpage, pages minimally toned; dustjacket with wear at the folds, a quarter-inch chip at the spine top edge and a half-inch chip at the spine bottom edge, corner wear and edgewear, mostly on the topedge, beginning toning on spine, rear panel and flap edges. The book is clean and tight with bright cloth and stamped lettering; the dustjacket despite the chipping and wear is clean, bright and intact. Very Good condition in a Good dustjacket with an archival cover. Welty's first novel. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hardcovers. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
The Grimm's Brothers' fairy tale, The Robber Bridegroom, is retold through the lens of the American South in this Eudora Welty novel. Set along the Natchez Trace, the story tells of Rosamond, who was kidnapped away from her home by a bandit. The tale contains mistaken identities, the cruel stepmother, beauty, terror, sex, and violence - all the best that fairy tales have to offer.
