Translated from the Germen by Zoe Dana Underhill. INSCRIBED by translator ("Dr. Blackwell With the warm regards of Z. D. U." -- probably Emily Blackwell, the sister who remained in practice in the United States). Zoe's name shows up just a bit in the Blackwell Family Papers at the Library of Congress. Lepsius was an important early German Egyptologist.
