Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1948. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. Signed by Lockridge on the half-title page. Early Printing. Very Good in a Fair jacket, unclipped ($3.95), generally toned, smaller chips throughout, a large piece of loss at the head of the spine. Beige buckram, toned and bumped at the edges, with brown and black ink lettering and designs on the spine and front board. Square, bound with some reading wear, yellow top stain, clean internally. Lockridge Jr.'s novel of the American Antebellum South, adapted into the 1957 film of the same name. Signed copies are difficult to find given Lockridge's suicide just months after the book was published. This copy comes with a newspaper clipping of his obituary in The New York Times.
