Three quarter leather and cloth, frontis., (portrait of H. W. Graber), 442 pp., preface. An extensive narratives relating to the 8th Texas Cavalry and his reminiscences of early Ellis and Dallas Counties. His experiences during the Civil War include his being wounded in Tennessee and captured, he tried to escape, and was imprisoned. Eventually he was paroled and rejoined his command in time to take part in the middle Tennessee Campaign. He returned to Texas at the end of the war after declining parole and requesting to be sent home. One of the rarest and desirable of the Texas Confederate regimentals. New York: McDonnell Bros., 1866 Book. Fair. Hardcover. First Edition. Elephant Folio - over 15 - 23" tall. Large brown two-volume Civil War book set with a gilt cover title. Five inch top spine cover chip and a one and one half inch bottom spine chip to volume 1. Volume 2 has a top chip/slight gouge at the spine top and a small chip at the bottom spine. Covers with light to moderate worming. Shaken and cracked bindings with a few loose pages and some old taped tears. The first 8 pages (from the title page) to the second volume are loose from binding and present. Fair minus to Fair plus condition. About 16-1/2 x 12 with 836 total pages. Illustrated, plus maps. Rare two-volume Civil War set (1866 and 1868)! .

The December 1884 issue contains the First American Printing of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain .
Each issue contains the Famous Series entitled Battles and Leaders of the Civil War . These volumes contain this complete series . The publishers contracted with leaders on both sides of the Civil War to write their first hand accounts and details of the significant battles and events. First edition with all the requisite first printing points; an absolutely stunning copy of this book which is notoriously hard to find in collectible condition....this being a near fine copy with a tight binding and clean white pages that shows some mild shelf wear to the spine ends and a small PO stamp on the front free end paper (interestingly his name is Per Odd Keul, an extensive world traveler and a cancer survivor); housed in a fine dust jacket that is basically flawless save for some very mild shelfwear on the top spine end....a beautiful copy of this Pulitzer Prize winning novel and THE most important work of civil war fiction....protected in a mylar cover.
