About This Item
Harcourt Brace and Company. Very Good- in Fair dust jacket. 1939. Hardcover. Gift inscription by co-author, Quail Hawkins, dated July 1945 on the front end page. Green pictorial boards show some bumps, soiled edges and minor sunfading. Spine is slightly cocked, and pages starting to tan. DJ is now protected in mylar, but shows significant wear, pieces missing from spine and edges, creasing and general wear. Slightly faded, but colors are not too bad. Striking illustrations throughout, the bold line drawings by Bolivian artist Sotomayor add much to the naturalist adventure story. (Probably not politically correct to capture and bring back to US rare Central American birds in this era, but an exciting story) Jungle illustrations on endpapers are also striking. ; 9.50 X 7.30 x 1 inch; Signed by One Author .
