The Quarterly Review was a long-lasting British periodical known for reviewing important world events. This 1818 edition features the first review of Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' penned by John Crocker which was notoriously scathing in its remarks. Also found within is commentary on the lives of famous composers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Joseph Haydn. Other contents in this volume include accounts of different voyages and explorations to South Africa, the Arctic, and Asia, secret history of the Church of Scotland, and historical sketches of South India and Brazil with an annexed diagram of the north pole.
