About This Item
The Office, Fleet Street, 1854. Hardcover. Acceptable. January - June, 1854. Bound together in brown cloth with gilt spine titles, decorative borders stamped in blind at both panels, at front panel surrounding a gilt Punch. Cloth rubbed, bumped to corners, frayed to edges, split to rear outer hinge and repaired with tape. Binding beneath the split in the cloth of the rear outer hinge is intact; binding is sound through textblock. FFEP and title page torn away; volume begins with the preface. Dampstaining to bottom margin of first and last few pages. Scarring / sticker ghost at front paste down, where it looks like a bookplate has been scraped off. Pages toned, with occasional edgewear including chipping and closed tears at margins. Text free of previous owner markings.
