Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Near Fine; scant shelfwear to board edges; small smudge on the front board. DJ: Very Good; NOT Price Clipped ($5.95); sunfading to spine; missing small pieces at head; light wear to flap folds. Tan tweed cloth boards and spine with bright black lettering on the spine and front board.152 pp 8vo. This is the story of the 2nd Bn, 131st Field Artillery, 36th Division of the Texas National Guard that was mobilized in November 1940 and sent to Australia and later to Java, Dutch East Indies. This unit was cut off by the Japanese Army and without communication, became the "Lost Battalion" as 345 members were placed in a POW camp until the end of WWII. They were POWs in Java, and later in Thailand where they were forced to build a railroad to Burma under the harshest of jungle conditions. Fillmore was returned to the US in September 1945. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
