About This Item
London: Frederick Warne and Co, c1891. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". None. The Albion Edition of Sir Walter Scott's poetry. With an Illustrated frontispiece. Scott was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet with contemporary readers worldwide. By profession Scott was an advocate, judge and legal administrator. He was a long term president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Since his youth Scott was fascinated by oral tradition. He developed an innovative method of recording what he heard from local story-tellers onto twigs. His first publication was a translated German poem. In a tree calf binding. Externally, very smart. Rubbing to joints. Front joint is starting but firm. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, though strained in places. Pages are bright. The odd spot to title page, otherwise very clean throughout. Bookmark ribbon present. Very Good Indeed
