About This Item
Indianapolis: (Bobbs-Merrill, Indianapolis, 1915. Limited Edition. Small Octavo. Frontispiece, 197 pages. Illustrated by E.W. Kemble (illustrator for Mark Twain). There was a huge celebration of the birthday of James Whitcomb Riley on October 7, 1915, in Indianapolis. Each of the 400 attendees at the dinner were given a copy of this book specially published for this occasion. Signed by 7 attendees of the dinner on the verso of the frontispiece. While copies of this edition are scarce, this is in unusually fine condition. Bound in 1/4 white cloth over gray paper covered boards lettered in gilt, spine lettering and top edge gilt. Very nice.
