With a selection of explanatory and historical notes, from the most eminent commentator; 'A History of the Stage', 'A Life of Shakespeare' etc., by Alexander Chalmers. Raised spine bands and gilt decorated spine, marbled boards, frontispiece of Shakespeare. 309pp with this first volume containing The Tempest, The Gentlemen of Verona, and Merry Wives of Windsor. Boards are scuffed. Leather worn through at joints down spine and corners quite heavily rubbed. Moderately foxed throughout. Library tape supporting spine ends. Previous owner name on front blank. 670 grams.
