Toronto: William Briggs, 1898. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine. First edition. xii, [2], [15]-578pp. Near fine in burgundy cloth, gilt spine titles, gilt cover design. Tissue-guarded frontis. Previous owner's bookplate. 24 text illustrations including frontis portrait. A beautiful copy. History of Norfolk County Ontario, pioneers, Scottish lineage, the Smiths, French Hugenots, IIsrael Wood, Captain William Franklin, the Welsch nobility offshoots, Sitts, Middleton Browns, Potts, etc. The author's original 1898 edition sold 1,100 of the 1,200 copies printed. The remainder burnt in a fire.

Egbert Americus Owen was a local historian born in Norfolk County. Series of sketches and essays which tell the story of pioneer life in Long Point Settlement in Norfolk County Long Point dips into Lake Erie near Port Dover, Fort Rowan, Ontario and is renowned for its fishing, conservation and wild life and bird sanctuaries.
