About This Item

Great Britain: David & Charles, 1981. Hardback. First Edition fep removed . Pigkeeper's Guide. Ex-library with ex-library markings. Wear to corners of boards. Assuming no previous knowledge, he takes us through the procedure step by step: the nature of the animals ('they are lovable creatures but they demand attention'), housing and bedding, feeding and breeding, the pros and cons of the different breeds and how to avoid (or cope with) bad habits and disease. We are told everything in fact that needs to be known to procude a family of contented pigs with litters thar are marketable in some twelve week from birth - a quick enough turnover to satisfy any accountant. There are of course rules and regulations to be followed and these are explained together with the names of the organisations that can assist; and, as the author remarks , their help is readily available on all counts. There are plenty of 'do's and dont's but in the author's opinion the principal potential danger is complancency, ignoring anything irregular in the pig's behaviour, for instance. His book will help you to observe as well as act. Illustrated. 128 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.). First Edition. Decorative Illustrated Boards. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Octavo. Hardback.
