Petition. Thos. C. Keefer, Civil Engineer, of Montreal, praying that in any Act to be passed for the purpose of the Grand Trunk Railway Company, a clause may be inserted making them liable for certain claims.

Petition by a former Civil Engineer, Thos. C. Keefer, who was employed by Railroad companies that surrendered their charters to the Grand Trunk Railway Company, but never received his salary before that. He wants to insert a clause empowering all parties having legal claims with the former companies to maintain the same against their successor, the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada

Robert Bell was a printer, businessman, office holder, politician, justice of the peace, and militia officer. He ran successfully as a reform candidate in the general election of 1847-48 which he represented in the Legislative Assembly until 1851. Throughout his life Bell maintained his residence in Carleton Place. In the elections of 1854, 1857-58, 1861, and 1863 he won the Lanark North seat.
