Complete bound set of monthly issues of Peterson's Magazine for 1880. Issues illustrated in steel/wood engravings, hand-colored plates (latter called double-size Paris plates, which were printed from steel plates and then illustrations were colored by hand). Wonderful black and white illustrations (several are foldouts), including full-pagers with tissue overlays. Fascinating, old commercial ads. Condition: Lightly age darken. Binding reflects expected wear, rubbing, abrasion, chipped areas and scattered faint stains/soiling. Large damp stains to edges (affecting part of page borders). Hinges cracked, holding tight. Former owner's name on first pastedown endpaper. Endpapers age toned, scattered damp/foxed areas and chips at extremities. Peterson's magazines age toned, some wear; scattered old damp spots/foxing; some offsetting of illustrations; several tissue overlays torn/creased. Overall this binding/bound issues is in Fair to Good condition. Text clear, readable. Illustrations clear. Fully hand-colored illustrations are stunning. Most leaves are not torn. Free of stickers, bookplates, writing and underlines in text block. Here you'll find female-oriented topics including illustrated fashion (dresses, garments, accessories), examples of designs for crocheting, colored patterns for embroidery, etc. There's music (to play on a piano), reviews of books, stories and novellas, plays, profiles of important people (e.g., Mary, Queen of Scots), household decorating tips, cooking ideas, and more. The advertisements are fascinating. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. About R. Siedlecki Vintage Books

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you’ll receive. In business since 1991, we typically have five-star ratings on major web sites.
