Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Third edition. Inscribed by the author to 'Resthaven', as 'A gift from the writer, Mrs A. M. Pennell'. This informative biographical work surrounds the life and work of English Protestant missionary and doctor, Theodore Leighton Pennell, who lived among the tribes and villages in Afghanistan in the early twentieth century. Written by his wife, Alice Maude Pennell, who was an Indian physician and author, and the first woman in India to achieve a bachelor of science degree. Illustrated with twenty photographs and a map. Collated, complete. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and joints. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine, causing small tears, with a larger tear to the head of the front joint. Slight fading to the spine. The odd mark to cloth, with the remnants of a label to the front board. Ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Good
