London: Printed by J.C. for H. Fletcher, 1657. Full Leather. Poor. Full leather with minor ruling and ornamentation. 5 ½ by 3 ½ inches. (8), 135 pp. Apparent variant from ESTC R202614 where Publike is spelled Publick, Country is spelled Countrey and Jenkins is spelled Jenkings. A work on English law and Leet Court in Medieval and feudal England. Judge David Jenkins was a Welsh judge, allied with the Royalists during the English Civil War. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London (among other jails) for his actions in support of the Royalists, and was eventually released, escaping execution in 1657. He wrote several political tracts and other works on jurisprudence. POOR/FAIR condition. Ex-library, with a bookplate and a few library markings, in pencil, in the interior. Front cover, first endpapers and title page DETACHED from the rest of the binding. Moderate to heavy scuffing to the cover, with minor soiling and staining. Extremities rather scuffed and worn. Text block solid, with a few pencil lines in the margins of several pages.
