About This Item

Columbus Books, London, 1989. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/Good. Illustrator: Teri Sanderson. 1.7 kg.; XIII, 14-272 pages, last page blank, acknowledgements, foreword by the author and photographer, introduction by author, appendices index and artwork credits. There are more than 85 full-colour photographs especially taken for this book. A lot of the settings have a " Clarice Cliff" feel. Gray coloured boards with embossed titles to the top edge of the front panel along with some decoration just below it. Black coloured titles to the backstrip. Minor rubbing to the book corners. Photographic dustwrapper with white title to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing to the dustwrapper edges. The major detraction from the dustwrapper are nasty tears to the top left-hand corner and lower right-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel measuring 1.25 " and 2.25 ". "Pacific Flavours interprets the multifaceted cuisines of the far east in a new and different way. Here Carpenter, one of the most innovative young chefs working today on the west coast of the USA, has developed a cuisine that reflects the merging of Eastern and Western cultures and combined tiny, Vietnamese and Chinese seasonings with Western ingredients to produce food that is light, healthy, easy to prepare, enticing to the eye, and delicious to eat."
