In the Numismatic Chronicle, Vol. 19, p. 267-268 it is noted this is the first great general work on Islamic coinages. It lists 4,000 coins, all illustrated and at least partially described, representing the Muslim coinages of the Near East (the Caliphates and Successive states), of India (from the Amirs of Sind) and much on the Crusaders and related field. Vol. II .760p. over 5500 illustrations and descriptions of coins of the ancient world from 600 B.C. to 600 A.D. Vol. III. Non-Islamic and Western Colonist, 600 A.D. to 1979. with over 4,000 images. Bound in blue cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, a couple of bumped corners and a few minor spots of rubbing. A handsome set.
