About This Item
Ottawa, ON: CEF Books, 1999. Soft cover. Near Fine. This book looks almost new. The interior is crisp and clean, with no marks, signatures, or signs of use. The illustrated paper covers are bright, with next to no wear. A very nice copy. Synopsis: "This is the memoir of Lieutenant James Pedley of the 4th Canadian Infantry Battalion [The Red Patch]. Pedley fought in France in 1917-18, was wounded, and awarded the Military Cross. His memoir is unique for its exceptional detail and his not always friendly, observations of the men he served with. The description of the positions at the Quarry, and of the deadly trenches in front of Avion have no equal. It was originally published in 1927.
