About This Item
First edition, first impression (Michael Joseph, 1965). Signed and inscribed by the author to the title page: 'Best Wishes, Dick Francis'. Original publisher's brown cloth with gold lettering to spine. Previous owner name to front endpaper with some toning and occasional foxing to edges; contents nice and clean otherwise. The original and unclipped dust jacket is in excellent, fine condition with just the mildest traces of toning to spine panel verso. An excellent, near fine copy of the author's fifth novel.
Synopsis
Former hotshot jockey Sid Halley landed a position with a detective agency, only to catch a bullet from some penny-ante thug. Now, he has to go up against a field of thoroughbred criminals--and the odds are against him that he'll even survive.
