NY: Macmillan, 1912. First. Cloth. Fine/Very Good. First edition. A fine copy, gilt lettering brilliant, top edge gilt somewhat dulled. In the very scarce dust jacket with moderate spine sunning and chipping head and foot, two small faults front panel. Navy blue cloth stamped in gilt, top edge gilt. Collection of material, some of which appeared in articles in McClure's Magazine, about the abuses of girls and young women in the "white slave" traffic to which many were exposed through the work force. Many of the reports came to Addams through the twenty field officers of the Juvenile Protection Association of Chicago and Hull House.
