Fine. 5-1/2 x 8-1/4 inches. ix,[1],120pp ; vii, 49pp. One of three hundred facsimile reprints of the Newberry 1912 and 1928 editions, bound together as one. Bound in the publisher's original maron cloth hard cover with the title stamped in gilt on a black label on the spine. Subject in the Edward E. Ayer Collection of the Newberry Library. Bound with Supplement by Clara A. Smith. A standard bibliography for Western Americana. Part one is a bibliography of 339 titles and part 2 lists 143 titles. Both with indices of the names of captives. Fine condition.

Two parts in one volume. The first volume was published in 1912, and the supplement in 1928. This is a detailed bibliography of editions of works containing narratives of the experiences of captives taken by various Indian tribes of North America. The first volume comprises over three hundred titles of individual editions. The first supplement adds another 143 items. The organization is alphabetical by author [where author is known]. Full collations are provided, as are notes and annotations. Still the definitive bibliography on the subject.
