About This Item

London: Richard Bentley, 1835. Half Leather. Good binding. Travel narrative by Thomas Boteler, of the survey expedition of HMS Barracouta and Leven as they survey the East African coast, and the River Gambia. Upon their return, they had surveyed 30,000 nautical mailes of coast, prepared 83 charts, and lost half their crew to tropical diseases. With four plates and few text illustrations. Wear to the joints, rubbing to the boards, surface loss to the edges of the boards, and spots of surface loss and creasing to the spine, especially one spot affecting the titling of Vol. II. Hinges feel fragile, though appear to be holding and are not cracked at the time of description. Half leather over marbled paper boards, with gilt lettering and designs along the spine. Good binding.
