About This Item

Paris: Privately Published by the Author, 1922. First Edition . Hardcover. Very good+ lacking a dust jacket. Green paper covered boards with white cloth spine and maroon title area. Small pull on front board, affecting part of the "M" in the title; the title on the spine is a little rubbed and the white cloth is slightly soiled. A little wear to boards at edges and corners; paper is starting to tan at edges. "Importe D'Allemagne" stamped near the bottom of the title page (the book was apparently printed in Germany). Errata page (along with the author's other works at bottom) bound in at rear. Includes numerous full page nude drawings/photographs, and endpapers are drawings of nudes. Inscribed by the author at the top of the half title page: "To Hans Klussmann/from his friend, the writer/Frank Harris./with all best wishes/Nice (a.m.) France." Beneath the printed title and author on the same page is an inscription in the author's hand: "For the Truth Endureth & is always/strong. It Liveth & it Conquereth for Evermore. Esra". The verse is actually from Esdras 4:38 (one of the books of the Apocrypha). A tight, square copy of this famous book of erotica, seldom found inscribed.
