Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing author in Toulouse-Lautrec's art studio. The text is illustrated with 11 black-and-white photographs throughout the text. Red coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Minor rubbing to the book corners and there is light browning and dust marks to the top text block edge. Page 5 and 6 have become slightly dog-eared. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste down. Illustrated dustwrapper with red titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing to the dustwrapper corners and a few small tears to the lower dustwrapper edge. The major damage to the dustwrapper has been to the rear dustwrapper panel where there is a piece missing measuring 3" x 2" with associated involvement of the top part of the backstrip. Rubbing and some marking to the rear dustwrapper panel. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. Translated from the French by Paul Dinnage. The memoirs of the author who was a life long friend of one of the most innovative, modern and sad of French artists Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. First English Translation.
