Program of lectures ending the first session of the academic year at McKendree College, a Methodist-affiliated school in Lebanon, Illinois. The college was founded in 1828 as Lebanon Seminary, changing its name to McKendree College in 1830 after Methodist bishop William McKendree (1757-1835). Twenty-eight student presenters are identified by name and their hometowns. Topics they declaimed upon include the "Mexican War," "Emigration," "Fourth of July," "Female Influence," "Advance of Science," "John Adams' Prophecy," "Illinois," and "Wealth of America."
