About This Item

Toronto: Macmillan, 1927. First edition.. Burgundy cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Frontispiece. A bit marked on the front cover, a very good copy. Inscribed and signed by King to Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Thorburn on the front end paper, a Christmas inscription signed "Laurier House" Ottawa, December, 1927. A further inscription beneath it is from Charlotte Whitton (former Mayor of Ottawa), and describes how the book was given to her by Mrs. Thorburn in 1951, and that she is now [in 1966] passing it on to a new owner. Two newspaper clippings taped to the inner front cover contain an obituary and memorial of Charlotte Whitton.
