Four volumes bound over two of this biographical work on Sir Walter Scott, written by his son in law and bound by John Tate in half calf. A later edition.The complete four volumes, bound over two. Bound in half calf with marbled paper to the boards by John Tate with his binder's labels to the front pastedowns. This collection of memoirs on the life of Sir Walter Scott was put together by his son in Law and literary executor, J. G. Lockhart. Sir Walter Scott was a celebrated Scottish novelist, historian and poet who is best known for his 'Waverley Novels'. This biographical work features Scott's letters, diary entrees and accounts of his life. Bound in half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Externally sound with rubbing to the boards, joints and extremities, cracking to the spines and joints tender to 'Volume I & II'. Bookbinder's label to the front pastedowns with minimal offsetting to the extremities of the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with very minimal age toning to the extremities and light spotting throughout. Good
