Spine is rubbed with loss with early clear tape covering it. Contemporary owner name of Basil Sewall dated 10 August 1843 at the top of p. 1. Notes in ink and pencil cover both endpapers. Checkmarks by many names in the directory. A good copy. SPEAR, p.285. Sixth edition of McElroy's Philadelphia directory. The attractive advertising section printed on green stock includes woodcut views of storefronts and a fire engine, as well as a full-page advertisement for Wetherill & Brothers, "Druggists, Chemists & Colour Merchants," illustrated with a detailed engraving of a laboratory.
