About This Item
Tight and unmarked-" This is probably one of my favorite Greg Clark books, and if you have never read any Clark, this might be the best one to start with. Greg was one of Canada's best-loved early 20th Century short story writers, and for good reason. His stories are both warm and funny, and always with a wonderful appreciation of the lighter side of human nature. This book is also a good place to start because not only does it include a few of his very best stories (my very favorite Greg Clark story, "The Gregory Clark Theory of Traffic," is here!), but it also includes an excellent biographical sketch of Greg by Frank Lowe. This book finishes with "They Might Be Looking Out Their Windows," probably one of Greg's most moving stories, and one that provides some real sense of the terrible impact that the First World War had on our grandparent's generation. I can never read it without thinking of similar sad stories I heard about my grandparent's experience and how the loss of so many young Canadian boys affected so many families and friends. Do read this book if you can still obtain it!"-CraigApplegath
