About This Item

London: Collins, 1956. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First Edition. Hardcover. First Edition. A classic Naval thriller often referred to as, The Wreck Of The Mary Deare. 8vo. 256 pp. A near fine copy in green cloth, (previous collector's neat, small name to the front free endpaper) gilt titles to the spine in a bright, fresh neatly price-clipped pictorial dustwrapper with very light use and one miniscule chip to the back panel. Adapted into film with Eric Ambler's screen play, starring Gary Cooper and Charlton Heston. The Mary Deare was a 6000-ton freighter, which for forty years had tramped the seas, been shipwrecked and torpedoed during the war. Then one night she mysteriously appeared from the Bay of Biscay into the English Channel. Pronzini & Muller, 1001 Midnights. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
