London: William Heinemann. 1908. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Publisher's original dark blue cloth with gilt titles to the upper board and spine. A good copy, the binding firm but with rubbing, bumping and fraying to the spine tips and corners. The spine is a little rolled. The cloth is marked and darkened, the gilt titles dulled a little. The contents, lacking the blank front endpaper and with evidence of a paper label removed from the front pastedown are otherwise clean throughout. The text block edges are somewhat dusty. Three page publisher's catalogue to the rear. A science fiction / occult novel, the villain of which Oliver Haddo is modelled on Aleister Crowley.
