Los Angeles, CA: Robert E. Callahan. Very Good in Good dust jacket. 1933. First Edition. Hardcover. Signed by Author . XX, 344 pp. Illustrations are sepia colored, primarily photographs. A nice copy in red cloth with black lettering on spine and front board, minimal wear includes light edge rub and bumped corner tips. Map endpages. Inscribed by the author in pencil on the dedication page, dated 1942. The dust jacket is worn and has been repaired with archival tape, it is not price clipped ($2.00). The text block edges are dust soiled. Callahan was a big part of the entertainment industry in California, silent film, theater and radio. He also created two successful American Indian theme parks. Callahan produced a number of syndicated radio programs during the Thirties which celebrated the Indian way of life, their contributions to the American West, and the beauty of Indian Culture. Callahan, was a big fan of Helen Hunt Jackson's book "Ramona." He authored the original Ramona Pageant, which is still held to this day in Hemet. ; 8vo .
