This is a great condition copy of "LIVES OF THE HUNTED" - Containing a True Account of the Doings of Five Quadrupeds & Three Birds by Ernest Seton-Thompson. 1901 1st edition, stated 1st impression (October 12 printing); Charles Scribner's Sons; New York. The book features over 200 illustrations, many of which are full-page. From the author's Note: "The material of the accounts is true. The chief liberty taken, is in ascribing to one animal the adventures of several."
The 8 stories are as follows: Krag, the Kootenay Ram; A Street Troubadour: Being the Adventures of a Cock Sparrow; Johnny Bear; The Mother Teal and the Overland Route; Chink: The Development of a Pup; The Kangaroo Rat; Titos: The Story of the Coyote that Learned How; Why the Chickadee Goes Crazy Once a Year.
Condition:
Clean front cover and spine; there is a small, light stain on the back cover; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Bright gilt on the front cover and spine. The inside of the book is in terrific condition - clean text pages with no issues found. The front end paper has 2 names/dates written in pen (1901 & 1958). A great condition copy.
