London: Longman, Brown, Green, Longmans, and Roberts, 1857--1858. First edition. In the ten original monthly parts, each with two full-page illustrated plates at front. Twenty plates in all; plus woodcut illustrations after Cruikshank replicated on front of each wrapper. Most with PUBLISHER'S PRESENTATION blindstamp on front cover. All lacking rear covers (each with plain tan wrap at rear instead) and tissue guards for plates. Each part appears to have been trimmed at top and bottom. Part X front cover darkened, else all are very good with only minor soiling to covers and with plates themselves near fine to fine. Housed together in green-cloth chemise and full leather, marbled-paper lined, top-loading double slipcase with 5 raised bands and gilt lettering on spine. Cohn 96.
