Corresponding 1917 dates to the title and copyright pages, no additional printings. 150 pages. First edition of this translation of the 16th century Spanish work. Inscribed. signed and dated 6 April 1917 by the author to Chicago railroad magnate Herbert Vanderhoof. Vanderhoof would later found a town named for himself in British Columbia, now a tourist destination. The cloth shows only very light edgewear; the spine is faintly sunned. Hinges solid; binding square. Scarce. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall
