About This Item
Minneapolis: The Lund Press, Inc., 1926. First Edition (NAP). . Hardcover. Very Good+/No Jacket. Photographs. Bound in pale green cloth with titles stamped in black. Corresponding 1926 dates to the title and copyright pages; no additional printings. Signed by University of Wisconsin - Madison professor of Scandivavian Languages Julius E. Olson (son-in-law of Rasmus B. Anderson), with an inscription describing his purchase of this book at the dedication of the Knute Nelson Memorial at Skoponong, Wisconsin, May 28, 1933. The four-page dedication pamphlet, along with several news clippings of the occasion, have been inserted into an envelope attached to the front pastedown. This envelope also carries the bookplate of Norwegian-American collector Herman Gimmestad, who purchased a number of books from Olson's collection in the 1940s. Nelson was Minnesota's first Norwegian-American Governor and later Senator. The cloth shows only a trace of edgewear, and other than the envelope and inscription, is unmarked. Hinges solid; binding square. A clean, tight copy. The pamphlet is folded in thirds, but is otherwise fine. A scarce association copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
