Liege/Paris: Benard/ Georges Courville, 1936. Limited Edition. Quarto. Half-title, 410 pages, 12 splendid portraits each hand colored and highlighted with gum arabic, including several of Napoleon at various stages of his career, and Gros, Prince Eugene, Desaix, Kleber, Massena, Moreau, Marshall Suchet and Tallyrand. Bound in contemporary brown polished calf decorated in blind, raised bands ruled in gilt, compartments fully gilt decorated, nicely rebacked with original spine laid down, some scattered foxing but mostly marginal, color plates with tissue guards, some wear to corners. A very good copy.
