(Jerusalem): Steimatzky's Agency, 1960. Hardcover. Near Fine. First Israeli edition. Translated from the Italian by Archibald Colquhoun. Octavo. 254, [1]pp. Green cloth. Owner's name dated in 1960 on front fly, modestly rubbed, near fine without dustwrapper (as issued?). Basis for the epic 1963 film directed by Luchino Visconti, starring Burt Lancaster, Claudia Cardinale, and Alain Delon. The author's only novel, written towards the end of his life and based in part on his own royal background (he was the Duke of Palma and the Prince of Lampedusa) was published posthumously and became a critical and popular success. The film won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

Synopsis

GIUSEPPE DI LAMPEDUSA  was born in Sicily in 1896 and died in 1957. The Leopard was his only novel.
