London: L. Reeve & Co., 1873. First Edition . Half Leather - Hardbound. Good+/No Jacket. 4to. John Gerrard Keulemans. 370 pages, plus 26 heliotype images on 16 leaves, plus folding, color, map (now backed on linen), plus three charts of which two are colored, plus 32 hand colored lithographic plates after Keulmans, and 6 hand colored botanical plates. Exquisite period binding in half leather with raised spine bands, gilt stamped lettering and decoration, and red/green leather spine labels. Marbled paper over boards. Binding shows a couple of very slight scuffs, though remains nearly perfect. Library stamps on blank sides of plates, etc, as well as blank space on printers page and dedication page, though no other library markings. Some foxing on first and last leaves, though plates remain in very good condition.
