Portrait frontispiece and two other plates by Norton. Rebound without the final ads in full brown morocco, painted and gilt, the spine vertically titled in gilt, the covers with a black frame outlined with decorative rules, the central panel in a diapered pattern alternating rows of black compartments with silver fleur-de-lys and brown compartments with gold fleur-de-lys, the endpapers of colorful flowers highlighted in gold, all edges gilt and gauffered with repeating rosettes. The story is of a French countess who founded a hospital for the poor. Colbeck p. 616.
