A tight, clean, sound copy in tan cloth covered boards with copper lettering on the spine with minor overall shelf wear plus a dot in red marker on the top right corner of the front endpaper plus some very light foxing of the bottom board edges. The dust jacket is in very good condition with minor overall wear mainly in the form of light edge wear and shipping around the spine top and bottom edges and at the corners plus it is price clipped. This is a title in the publisher's Chicago History of American Religion series. The series is edited by Martin E. Marty. This book examines the perception of Judaism as America's third faith since the numbers and distribution of Jews throughout the country has become significant. The author looks at how the religious tradition of the Jews has been modified by the cultural and religious environment of America. He also examines the impressive variety and internal division of American Judaism. Also examined in connection to this is its the rejection an imposition of a doctrinal system, a feature that has traditionally been a significant aspect Judaism. Endnotes, indexed, 156p..
