First edition with colored plates -- 15 hand-colored aquatint plates, including the engraved title vignette. Each plate marked, drawn and etched by H. Alken (except the title which does not bear his name).TOOLEY 471. "First appeared in Vols. I-VII of New Sporting Magazine and then in book form in 1838 with 12 plates by Phiz. and again in 1839." Bright, sharp and clean -- text and plates. Lacks adverts. Marbled portion of covers lightly rubbed, red leather spine label printed in gilt, spine panels richly gilt.
