Amsterdam: Solomon Schouten, 1743. Used - Very Good. . 4to., 26 x 21 cm. [18] 1-792 [2] 815-956 [30] pp. Engraved title page. Folding map of Rome. 7 full page plates (2 folding). Full vellum elaborately decorated in gilt and blind. Vellum age-darkened; boards rather bowed as expected. Small split at head of spine. Some offsetting from plates to nearby leaves; scattered foxing. Collation: *4, **4, A-Z4, Aa-Zz4, Aaa4-Zzz4, Aaaa-Zzzz4, Aaaaa-Zzzzz4, Aaaaaa-Gggggg4 [where Gggggg4 is blank]. Ggggg1 is signed âGgggg & Hhhhhâ, presumably an acknowledgement by the printer of the pagination error which causes Book One to end on p. 792 and Book Two to begin on p. 815. (Subject: Ancient, Rome.)
